Mentor Coaching

Is Mentor Coaching for you?

Mentor coaching offers coaches a space for reflection, feedback and professional development around their coaching practice.

For some people, that’s connected to accreditation or credential renewal. For others, it’s simply about wanting to become a more confident, skilled and self-aware coach.

I work with coaches from a range of backgrounds and approaches  - including coaches working within the International Coaching Federation framework, as well as coaches who are not pursuing formal accreditation but who still value reflective practice and high professional standards.

At its core, mentor coaching is about creating space to look more deeply at how you coach.

That might include:

  • noticing patterns or habits in your coaching conversations

  • building confidence and trust in your own style

  • understanding where you may get stuck or overthink

  • developing stronger presence and listening

  • refining questioning and partnership skills

  • recognising where fear, pressure or self-doubt may affect your coaching

  • receiving supportive, constructive feedback

  • deepening your understanding of what effective coaching actually looks and feels like in practice

My approach is supportive, honest and developmental rather than overly formulaic.

Whilst we may absolutely look at competencies and frameworks, I’m less interested in helping people “perform coaching” and more interested in helping them develop a way of coaching that feels authentic, grounded and sustainable.

Mentor Coaching & the ICF

Within the ICF, mentor coaching has a specific meaning and forms part of the credentialing and renewal process.

ICF mentor coaching involves coaches receiving feedback based on observed coaching conversations in relation to the ICF Core Competencies. The intention is to support growth through reflection, feedback and ongoing development over time, rather than through one-off assessment alone.

Mentor coaching may support coaches who are:

  • working towards ACC, PCC or MCC credentials

  • applying through portfolio pathways

  • renewing an existing credential

  • preparing for observed coaching assessments

  • wanting greater confidence around the competencies and assessment process

The ICF currently requires 10 hours of mentor coaching over a minimum three-month period for credentialing and renewal pathways.

How I Work

Sessions may include:

  • reflective discussion around your coaching practice

  • review of recorded coaching conversations

  • competency-based feedback

  • identifying strengths and developmental edges

  • support around confidence, presence and self-trust

  • understanding what assessors may be listening for

  • bridging the gap between theory and real coaching conversations

Sometimes what initially appears to be a “competency issue” is actually connected to confidence, perfectionism, people-pleasing, fear of silence or trying too hard to get coaching “right”.

I aim to support both the development of the coach and the development of the coaching itself.

One-to-One Mentor Coaching

I offer individual mentor coaching for coaches at different stages of their professional development, whether connected to formal credentialing or personal growth as a practitioner.

£125 - single 60-minute mentor coaching session

£450 - three-session package
Includes review of one recording and transcript outside of session time, with structured feedback integrated into the mentoring process.

£1,500 - 10-hour mentor coaching package
Includes three recording and transcript reviews outside of session time, alongside ongoing developmental feedback and support across the mentoring journey.

Group Mentor Coaching

I also offer small group mentor coaching spaces at selected times throughout the year.

Group mentoring can be incredibly valuable for hearing different coaching styles, deepening understanding through shared reflection, and recognising that many coaching challenges are more universal than we often think.

There are no current mentor coaching groups running, but you are very welcome to get in touch to enquire about upcoming groups or to join a waiting list for future dates.

Working Together

If you’d like to explore mentor coaching, ask questions about credentialing pathways, or simply discuss where you are in your development as a coach, you’re very welcome to get in touch.
